Default 08 heritage brake light stays on

This is caused by the front brake lever I've tried replacing the lever and the pin I even shimed the lever to tighten it that will work for a short time then the brake light comes back on the only thing I haven't tried is replacing the master brake cylinder. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it. This is my wife's bike and I'm tired of hearing the complaints

I've got the same problem on my Fatboy LO right now. I'm taking it in next week. All my buddies are telling me the brake light is only the time. I'll let you know what they say.

Is the lever floppy? Or a possibly pinched wire that is completing the circuit.

Do you have OE or aftermarket levers possibly without enough clearance? Compare the amount of lever movement required to actuate the stop switch on your bike then try the wife's.

If it is much less - could be you need to modify or remove material from the back of the lever to increase the clearance between the lever and the switch.

If it is about the same - try changing out the switch as it must be sticking in the closed position

I purchased Harley levers and they worked for a sort time then they got sloppy again while riding if you push out on the lever the light goes out but if you don't the light stays on or flickers on and off

Sounds like the switch is broken.

It sounds like the tip of actuator pin on the switch is probably broken. It's very easy to break when changing levers. Either replace the switch or modify the lever where it contacts the switch. I drilled, tapped and installed a 4/40 screw in the lever. This takes up the space made by the broken tip. Works perfectly.

Cripes, Harley has had this problem forever with the lousy brake light switch design. The little nub gets broke off. I fixed mine by tapping and inserting a 632 screw in the lever. Works like a charm.
