I run syn 3 in all 3.

It's oil, not brain surgery. Pick a brand name in your price point and stick with it. Change it every 5k and you'll be just fine. Even the cheap synthetics will protect for at least 5k as long as the oil temps dont exceed 350*. Just my opinion though, and it ain't worth much.

2013 Heritage with the 103. Mobile 1 V-twin 20W-50 in the engine and primary. Mobile 1 75W-90 LS in the transmission.
Oh, run Mobile 1 20W-50 in my Cessna 172 with a Lycoming O-360.
Mobile 1 extended performance 5W-30 in my Saturn.

any good oil ( and they all are today ) will work..
Harley say's "in a emergency use a good quality diesel oil "
HD engine's don't rev much , and are air cooled ..no- need for a "exotic oil".
But whatever makes you feel good ..its your money

Default Oil oil on the ground

I'm an amsoil guy but I think any name brand works and you should stick with what you choose. My recipe is 20-50 engine; 10-40 primary; 75-90 tranny. Been using it for years and no bearing failure.

All motor oils are compatible. I run Castrol GTX 20-50 dino but sometimes add a little HD 360 60 wt. when it is over a 100 degrees in the summer.

Really.... Then why are there so many different API requirements? FYI - I'd stick with something that meets or exceeds the API SJ rating.

This is a topic that really brings out people's recommendations and I have even seen it get heated at times. I have commented on this many times, just like everyone else and their opinions so I won't go into all the details again. I'm running a high compression stroker motor. I also work for the worlds 2nd largest chemical company in the world and I work in the lab and I have for the past 25 years. I run Amsoil 20/50 in the motor and primary and I run the Amsoil 75/90 in the tranny. If you would like the details as to why you can dig up those old threads or you can shoot me a PM. Also let me add that the Chemical company I work for is NOT Amsoil nor does it have any ties to Amsoil in any way.
