Not related to this thread but they now have card readers where they, a thief, can simply walk by you and read your card while it's in your wallet, in your pants pocket. To counter that they are now coming out with Aluminum wallets, kind of like an old fashioned pocket cigarette case, if you will but I don't know how that can in anyway be comfortable, especially on a bike. Another scam is these thieves take jobs in restaurants waiting tables. When they take your credit card to ring up your bill they scan your card and take the 3 digit security code off of the back of your card. This device also stores your card into memory and they then sell that device, with up to 20 credit cards, to the identity poachers. I use my credit cards sparingly and only on emergencies if at all possible. You have no idea how your life can be turned upside down in a hurry from being the victim of Identity theft crimes. I only bring this up in this forum to help a fellow biker keep from getting his life upended. "Card reader" thieves at places like gas stations target out of state travelers because they can have your card maxed out by time you get back home and before you even knew what hit you.
Didnt know bout the alum wallet protection. Glad im a cash guy for the most part.

The mrs got "scanned" while she was in FL with her mom. They only have to be, i believe within 1 foot of you to scan the info on your cards. the credit card company actually called us to tell us that they froze the account. we called our two other card company's and they also had illegal charges on them. We know it was her that got scanned because i don't carry one of the cards that got BS charges on them. luckily all the illegal charges were wiped from our account.
Like I said, I hate bringing this issue up here on this forum but it's near vacation time when people are jumping on their bikes and heading out to the open road. (or in cars) and nothing is worse than coming home from an awesome vacation on a bike, with good friends, to find out your financial lifeblood has been ripped to pieces. And they do look for out of state travelers because they can do their dirty work before you even find out you been hacked. I use cash if and when at all possible.
Who would have thought a mere gas cap could keep a thread going this long!, love it.. I tried resting it on my seat the other day but no way, it just rolls off, footboard still the best solution for me.
Now, not wanting to high jack this at all, but on a very related and equally riveting topic, I am wondering what everyone does to avoid petrol tank spillage both before AND after fuelling? As far as I'm concerned its a bit of a skill avoiding any spillage onto the tank.. Really bugs me when I have to reach for the paper towel to clean any fuel off. So, how do you keep your hoses tips clean boyzz??
I 1st grab a paper towel and hold it around the end of the nozzle. I then hold the nozzle upside down until the tip of it is directly over the fill hole when filling it. When I am done and the tank is full I hold it over the fill hole to drip dry then I put the paper towel around the tip again and I flip it upside down again when returning the nozzle to the pump. I honestly can't remember the last time I got a single drop of fuel on my tank and yes, this simple thread really has legs.

Select grade, hold nozzle over ground and let it drain, turn upside down, move into position, fill tank, remove and turn upside down to replace in pump. No towels, no gas caps, no fancy crap, just fill the damn tank. Haven't dripped on the tank in awhile, but even if I did, so what! Ride the damn bike, it's gonna get dirty, wipe it down when you get home. Quit being a bunch of sissy nanny pants!
