I know you are right, I just didn't want my bike to sit around the dealer waiting for a part. I am 100% positive it's the fuel pump that is making all that noise. Just like any softail, the fuel pump housing can be accessed on the top of the tank. There is a chrome plastic trim cover that covers the fuel pump unit. That is where I can hear where all the noise is coming from. With the help of my two boys, I'm going to try to load the Breakout in my truck tonite. I measured my truck bed I think it will just squeeze in. I will have to leave the tail gate down and half of the rear tire will stick out.
Repairs during riding season are a bitch for sure. Good luck! Let us know how it turns out.
You ain't kidding. If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck. I bought a new Ninja 14R last year. Wouldn't you know it, the next day I took it out for a spin the transmission gears kept popping out of gear. The dealer ended up pulling the engine/transmission out to replace a faulty shift fork. It was out for 2 weeks. I was pissed. I called Kawi to complain about my bike breaking only after one day. Their comment, "that is what warranty is for and No, you are not getting a new bike from us".
So, a bad fuel pump after 1K miles, it sux, but I'm not pissed. Just a little annoyed because my Breakout is my main bike. I rarely ride my Ninja now. It's just too uncomfortable.
Not to hijack the thread but I had my eye on the 2013 ZX6R in black. That thing is bad ***, but I'd probably look like a monkey ****ing a football on the thing.

Man that blows. I would imagine once they have the part you shouldn't be out of commision for too long.

I had a 2009 ZX6R once. After only a year, I sold it. My wife hated the idea of me owning a youngsters bike. So, when she wanted a new car (2012 Nissan 370Z Nismo), I sold it for her down payment. You always take a beating selling any metric sportbike. My days of riding on a 600cc crotch rocket are over. My body doesn't bend like that anymore.
Well, I tried to get my Breakout up on my truck. I got it on but after looking the bike. It just didn't look safe. My truck bed is just too short. So, I rode it to the dealer today. One I got there I let the service advisor hear the recording that I made of the noisey fuel pump. So, hopefully all will work out.
sorry bout yer troubles
sell your ninja & get a harley back up bike
I can't say I havent thought about unloading the Ninja. Two problems though, as I'm sure you know, Japenese sportbikes have very low resale values so I'm better off keeping it then give it away. Plus, (here is reason number 1) My wife likes my Ninja sportbike maybe because she has her own Ninja.
