went coast to coast here a couple of years ago. Started with a new tire and it did much better than usual. I attributed it to more miles at a steady speed than the usual 150 miles out and backs.
just swapped out a set of MCIIs and they weren't all that--not bad, but slightly above average between Dunlops and Metzlers. Never ran E-3s. 45 is pretty hot, rode across the Mojave desert (California and Nevada USA) once on Dunlops, it was pretty hot. No tire issues, but I coulda used a giant schooner of VBs about 3 hours in.

Haha, VB, good on you!! Interesting about the tyres, I am looking at the tyres listed below, what would be the pick of the bunch for k's, wear and tear? Must be able to get 10,000k's.
Michelin Commander II
Dunlop Elite III
Bridgestone Exedra Max
Pirelli Night Dragon
I had a Kaw Vulcan 750 with the Bridgestone Excedra's.....They lasted at least 10,000 miles. I'm too lazy to do the math right now to convert that to Ks. They didn't handle as well as the Dunlop 404's I replaced them with.

Hell that's a lot of k's if you were getting 10,000 miles out of them. How many did you get out of the 404's?
