Hi i want to find an open belt drive but with out a back plate....i mean like the one in the pic for a twin cam motor.....i cant seem to find one....anybody know of a company that makes one?
No its not that ...theres no plate at all behind the two sprockets...its just sprockets and the belt....totaly old school....i mean if i take two sprockets( not quite sure if i got the words right) and a belt and put em on will it get the job done....?
If you spend any time on Exile's site or give them a call, they will tell you why this is not a great idea. Perhaps it will work but there will be undo stress on 1. the main shafts on both motor and trans, 2. the cases of each where the pressures are now being increased, not to mention the runout caused by the added pressure to keep it going without a motor/trans plate.
There are a few out there that have minimalistic plates that are not all that visible, but most will tell you that you will end up with problems due to no support. The cases are just cast afterall.
Yeah thats the one......Can it be custom made?i mean prices are sky high.....i got a buddy who has a cnc machine.....he could probably make one for me.....
