Hi guys, im coming over to vegas in october and im going to rent a harley for a day with the idea of riding from vegas to kingman and back so around 250 miles in one day.
My question is , is a softail ok for 2 up riding for that many miles in a day?
I ride a sporty over here but the missus wont go on back but says she will in vegas and we sat on a softail and electra glide over here at dealer and whilst the glide was big and comfy its also heavy and thinking maybe not good idea to jump straight on one! But the prices are the same for each model, think the softail seems the safer bet but would like some opinions on comfort etc. cheers
Yeah it's fine. 250 not really a lot. I'd say a deluxe or heritage would be best softail choices. Deluxe is a little lower if your vertically challenged. Other than that they are very much alike.
My classic is super comfortable, me and the lady took a 200 mile trip on a 1200 sporty a few weeks ago, that is one reason I no longer have the sporty. Don't get me wrong here I loved the sporty and would have kept it but most of my riding is 2 up and in my opinion the classic is better suited for that.
the heritage in my opinion is the best bike Harley has ever made. my husband owned a 2007 heritage and he put a larger passenger seat for me and a larger back rest. we went 550 miles in one day to south padre and I had no problem. we put 60,000 miles on that thing. he traded it for a 2012 street glide and I do not like it we had more room on the heritage . so what did I do , I got my own bike a 2013 deluxe and I love it . He wishes he had gotten a new deluxe. your wife will love the ride of the heritage as it glides over the bumps no jarring just smooth .
