I would consider abs if it was an option separate from the security system.

By your way of thinking, cars would still only have lap belts, drum breaks, and no Air Bags because they are "harder" to work on.
False logic! I make no comparison between a motorcycle and a car. Motorcycles are inherently more dangerous. That's part of the risk we all take when riding. It's also part of the allure along with the freedom of the ride.

When I have my family with me, I'll take all the safety advantages I can afford. I prefer to keep my road bikes more simple. If ABS was standard on all models, then I would have gotten it and not complained. Given the choice ... I chose not to have it this time.

Like I said, it's a personal choice. I respect those that want / have it ... Respect those of us that don't.

It's just like ridding with or without a helmet.

You want safety, drive a cage.

Enjoy and keep the rubber side down.

False Logic? What kind of logic doesn't want to make something that is inherently more dangerous safer?

When I was in highschool I had a 1942 "45" with no front brake as the cable was broken. I rode it with that knowledge firmly implanted in my brain. Never had a problem except when having to stop on an upgrade. It got a little tricky to start off again. LOL. It is hard to operate a foot clutch and brake at the same time when stopped. Back in the days when only race drivers wore helmets.

False logic was assuming my thoughts on cars.
If safety is what you want / need, drive a car.

Again, I don't have a problem with others wanting the safety aids ... I simply choose not to have them on my bike at this time.
As motorcycle abs technology matures, I may reconsider my opinion.

I'm not sure cars are much safer anyway with all the distracted drivers. If it is safety I need / want I wouldn't leave the house. But then again there are a lot of household accidents too. So ride what you want and enjoy it!

Yep, went ahead and found one with ABS. Took a bit of looking to find a used one, glad I did.

That's the question I asked when I bought my Breakout. The short answer is no, but I suppose it's possible if you buy all the right replacement parts. I decided to go for it on my new bike.

There are always those people that think they wouldn't want ABS because this or that. They're the same people that embrace "Junk Science" because it backs up their faulty logic. ABS isn't a substitute for experience & caution, but when both fail you, ABS just might make the difference between the hospital or the morgue, and that's good enough for my money.

Again, not a bad system by any means ... you just have to understand what it IS and is NOT designed to do.
I'm still waiting for all your reasons you said there are...

Ah,... you should have just said that you enjoy living on the sharper part of the edge. Those of us that have gone for ABS are content to live on the somewhat duller, but safer part.
