+1 on being a wuss. I bought the slim to enjoy the scenery. If I wanted to see the world go by at 150 I would have kept my cbr or bought a triumph street triple.

Also, when 400+ head temps are cranking it doesn't feel so great on your leg no matter what you're wearing (I don't wear shorts on my slim).

But anyways the only thing i didnt like about it was that stupid heel shifter and the vibrations during the ride. The brakes felt like 2 planks of wood rubbing on the disc but Im assuming that they havent broken in yet.

Compared to a touring bike which I own. Its pretty fast.

By the way... the only way you can burn your thigh is if you wear shorts. Its nearly impossible to do that if you wear the right gear.

In my own opinion riding a softail is like riding a metric. Rubber mounted bikes feel more authentic

Whatever you say, Internet Braveheart.

No vibrations at all here. If there was that can be addressed with proper tuning. The heel shifter is easily removed.

Well ride was great but I also rode an sg. With the slim I didn't like were the kickstand was. It was a little bit a pain to get to. It did handle well but didn't like all the wind at highway speeds. I know that's easly fixed with a shield but I think it would kill the look. SG won by far. Crusie, radio, fairing for wind, comfy seat, and for being a bigger bike it still handals great. Hope to get one soon.

I'm not sure how do I even measure my temp. But when I wear jeans and usually sitting in traffic or wait long at a long light with my both legs on the ground. My right inner leg/thigh sometime touch the rocker box and get burn. I also tend to burn my right legs at time with 2 into 2 big radius. It either I'm short or I need a wider stances. I'm 5'8

The bike I test rode had less than 400 miles on it. So maybe it just needed proper break-in. In my experience, all of the lineup I have test ridden have some type of buzziness. Not complaining but each lineup have their quirks

But one thing I did notice is that the transmission on the slim/softails are very slick compared to the rubbermounted engines. which is a plus for me.

My mechanic at work has one of those fancy laser temp gauges that he can use to check for me. At home I have a digital thermometer that I check oil temp with. You can pick up the digital thermometers just about anywhere... just make sure they can go into the high 300s and can reach the oil.

As far as height-I've only got a couple inches on you. I don't really have any problems touching my pipes. Looking down today it looks like my right leg is about 2-3 inches from the rocker box. The thing I noticed when I had the exhaust leak is the direction the heat was coming from. Before I changed the gaskets the heat was directly on the inside of my leg. It was so hot at stop lights on a hot day that I would have to put my foot up on the floorboards to get my leg away from the rocker box.

With the fuel management and new gaskets the heat is on the bottom of my leg-obviously coming from the pipes themselves. Today was another 95+ day. I rode her through town. At the longer lights I could feel the pipes warming up and the oil bladder a little through my seat. It was never uncomfortable hot though.
