Default mis-matched tires& mileage.
Ok. I've never done it so I'm asking for input here. I have 5000 on stock h-d dunlop. Almost ready for new,wanna switch to Avon venom or possibly a metzler. As long as I don't mix radial& bias I should be ok I think. And as long as there's not a big tread difference. Thanks.

Some say don't mix and match because different tread patterns don't play well together. I'm not sure yet.

my front and rear tires have different tread patterns and it is new from the dealer, does this sound normal.

Done it many times. Can't feel anything. I'm running a bias on the front and radial on the rear right now.

You can mix brands and Radial/Bias if you want... hell some HD models come that way from the Factory..The way Bias ply tires are made nowadays you won't notice...Manufacturers want you to use their tires and they pump that bullshit everytime they can...

I do know that when I put a Commander II up front to match the rear some weird handling characteristics went away. But that those may just have been a result of the POS 1 year old Dunlop that was up front.

Ordering a Metzler today for the rear on my Deluxe to run with the Dunlop on the front.

How do you guys know when its time to change tires? ive got 8k miles on my Dunlops, they look ok to me.

I replace when the tread is gone or the walls are showing cracks, whichever comes first

Wear bars level with tread. Belts showing through. Loss of air. All pretty good signs it's time to get a new one.
