Lightbulb NooB Question

Hi guys. Long time lurker here and new HD owner. Rode crotch rockets for many years but my old bones can't handle the pooping-cat riding position anymore so, I bought a 2006 Springer Classic couple of months ago and have been totally enjoying it. Wife just got her license and will be riding a HD as well.
The bike came with 1 alarm fob. I can start the bike no problem without having the fob anywhere near the bike.......From reading here I learned that 2006 and earlier bikes, the fob button has to be pressed/hold to arm and depressed/2x to disarm, unlike the 2007+ where the fob automatically arms/disarms the system based on the fob's vicinity to the bike.

Well, I haven't used the fob to arm/disarm the system for fear it may malfunction on me and get me stranded. I just lock the ignition and fork whenever I leave the bike in a parking lot, etc.
My question is, when it comes time to replace the bike's battery, will I need to do any reprogramming to the alarm system when old battery is removed and new one installed (bike not having power for a few minutes) ? or is it as simple as... remove old battery, install new battery, start bike?
Oh yeah, great info on replacing the battery in the keyfob before it goes dead.

I disconnected/reconnected my battery the other day to install flashing taillight module and had no issue with fob and subsequent startup.

Nope. I regularly disconnect my battery and have never had any problems with the alarm.

The most important thing I've learned when disconnecting the battery is to turn the ignition switch to on first. On the newer systems the alarm will go crazy if you just disconnect the battery without turning the ignition on first. This is really a big problem if you have the siren and are working in the confined space of a garage. Earplugs help when you're trying to read the owners manual to figure out how to make the insanity stop.

I'm sorry but I don't have any info on your topic. I just wanted to applaud your choice of bike. Ride safe.

I agree on the info found/given on this forum. Hundreds of thousands of years of combined riding experiences.
