I bought the Samson S2-439 B from Phat Performance a few weeks back, long story short I ride the bike around town for a while with no problems and when I took my first long trip both of the chrome tips fell off somewhere in between the 700 mile trip.
I called Samson about it and the first thing they told me is: did you tight the hardware after 100 miles (yes, granted the tips come installed from the factory), the next question was are you sure somebody didn't take them? (oh, you mean while I was gassing up somebody came up and took the tips off?, huhmmmm, yeah sure), next one is even better... maybe the vibration of your bike caused the tips to fell off (really? excuse me if my bike vibrates, I don't remember seen a disclaimer in your website saying: don't buy this pipes if your bike vibrates too much because the pipes may fall off, WTF).
The way I see it somebody during the assembly process forgot to put loctite or whatever they put in the single screw holding the tips on, then they fell off when the pipes got hot and now is my fault, nice.
Samson solution 20% off a new pair, that would put me at $160.00 plus shipping, I guess that is the price I have to pay for somebody in their company not doing their job.
I will be looking for other tips to replace them, I liked the Samson ones but I refuse to bend over and take it in the @$$.

Sounds to me like you didn't tighten the set screw after 100 miles like they tell you
If something comes pre-assembled from the factory it shouldnt need to be tightened.
Does it say in the instructions to re-tighten after 100mi? If it does then its on you. If not then its a problem on their end.
Maybe they meant every 100 miles..lol
Mine havent fallen off yet...usualy once carbon gets on stuff it gums up the threads so Im suprised this happened. There might be a problem with the threads on your pipes? Machining processes have allot of potential for variation...in manufacturing two defects out of 100000 pieces is acceptable (unless you are one of the two!)
Sounds like bad luck, I feel for you man. Dont blame you for being pissed.

I have owned one set of Samson Pipes in my life and that is the only set I will ever own, or should I say did own. Never again! They are no longer on the bike in this picture. It is now running V&H 2-1 Competition and I love them.
I did tight everything more than once, I had at least 400 miles in 60 or 70 mile trips before the tips fell off during my first long ride.
Okay then I would be pissed as well. Is it possible someone stole em? (maybe you stopped for lunch and just didnt notice when you came out then did notice when you stopped to fill up?)

Nope the wife was following behind when the second one felt off, it hit a truck and got run over by the next one. I was lucky I didn't got an insurance claim from somebody driving behind me.
