Default check out difference between Hammer Perf. vs. HD push rods

while changing out stock cams, I discovered my stock push rods weren't exactly
true. At first I thought I bent them, but after studying them I found the "Mae West" end ***** were not centered on the tube! I called these cats at Hammer and they were a HUGE help to this first time cam changer who had a shitload of newbee questions. They were extremely kind in their educating me on push rods and push rod geometry. I just could not bring myself to run Adjustables with Hydraulics, as I don't plan on changing cams like underwear. Adjustables with Solids, yes, otherwise not necessary in my world. I ordered a stock length Hammer replacement set and they just arrived today. What I hope to illustrate is the difference in build quality between Hammer and Harley.
Not even close IMHO.

They do look stout. Since you are doing the work yourself, you obviously are taking time by removing the tank, etc.. That's great, but for many of us, having adjustable rods put in is a cost saving measure. I did not like the idea of adjustables either, but my tuner, who I trust, said they work fine. If I have my heads ported and polished I will replace them then.

sure they work fine. I figure most times the OEM ones get trashed and not studied. It threw me for a loop as I figured I bent them. Fixed length are ~ 60% cost of Adjustables. Ain't fired the motor yet, but I'm Jonesin'.

The first time I changed cams in my bike I pulled the rockers and kept the stockers. The second, and subsequent, times that I have changed cams for myself and friends I've used adjustables. Not just because of the added ease, but also because of the ability to load the lifters a little deeper. Made a big difference in noise level on my RG when I went to taller cams.
