Default Lok-tite on riser clamps

Hi all. Just put 4 inch curved risers on my 08 Fatboy. The instructions call for using RED Lok-tite on the cap bolts, but that seems rather excessive too me. Do you think blue is OK?

The only negative I have encounter with the new risers is the stock length clutch cable is short. Full right and it gets pretty tight.

Let me make sure I understand what you are asking. The manufacturer recommends RED lok-tite, but you are checking with the internet community to find out if it is okay to ignore them?

I don't know much about lok-tite except that blue can be loosened and red needs heat before it will loosen it's grip.

Yeap - you got it. And based on your last sentence so would you. The use of red lok-tite looks like it was written by the corporate lawyers. Sure, I am going to put a torch to my chromed aluminum risers to adjust them - right. I probably should not have even asked as I am going to ignore HDs recommendation.

I would imagine having your bars move on you while at speed could lead to a fairly *** puckering experience. It's your ***. Pucker away!

Mine loosened twice. The last time it loosened I didn't use an allen wrench to tighten them.

I blue locktighted the crap out of the entire threads and used a 3/8 drive socket and ratchet with the appropriate size Allen and tightened the **** out of all four bolts. It never loosened again.

I have a large *** so that should stick me well to the seat.

Go with neither. I forgot on on one bike and tightened the **** out of it. 5 years later still solid.

I'd probably use blue, check tightness a few times over the next couple of weeks, and then forget about it.

Not saying that's what you should do though.

I used Blue on mine but checking that it stays tight is part of my service routine. I have found them looser than I wanted them once.
