The front brake on my 2010 Fatboy is making a little noise when I am riding however if I apply the brake the noise stops completely. What could be the cause of this? I bled all the brake line and added in new brake fluid and it fix the majority of the noise but I still have it happen from time to time. I have had stock HD pads and stock rotors and now I run lyndall pads with a new set of rotors and no matter which set up I had noise. This is something I would like to get fixed as its just kind of annoying. I noticed the that the brake pressure didnt seem constant when I was riding but after bleeding the brakes it seem much better. Any advice would help.
I had the a similar thing happening to me after i changed the rotors on my bike. idk what caliper you have but i had to replace some o-rings in mine and lube them so that the pins would slide properly. but i have the old style caliper. I don't know if this is going to help but that's the story i have. GL
I had the same situation about a month ago and it bugged the hell out of me. For me a was sort of a metallic squeal, hard to explain but different than a normal brake squeal I ended up just breaking down the caliper, cleaning all the parts and lubing it up real good. Squeals gone and my sanity has returned.
Pull the brakes off and remove the pads. Clean with brake parts cleaner. Apply a small amount of brake grease to the lip of the caliper plungers. Re-assemble. Should be good to go. May have to repeat again in the future.
As your pads wear the pistons in the caliper become more exposed. When you replace the pads the pistons are pushed back inside the calipers and any corrosion on the piston may prevent it from retracting properly. Hence above post: Applying a small amount of brake grease to the lip of the caliper plungers can help
