Bat wing fairing on a slim. Will it cause problems?
I was in the HD stealer yesterday looking at the new streetglide considering it due to starting to travel a little more and told the salesperson there it was nice but I really love my slim and was just going to use my windshield or put a fairing on it on trips. He told me don't use a fairing that it will cause shaking of the front end at highway speeds that the softail front end was not made for the pressure it causes. I have used my windshield plenty and never had any problems. Sounds like bull to me just wanted some feedback from other softail owners who have used a fairing on there bikes.
I don't have one but am considering one for my Slim as well. Have not seen one yet, however, there are several people that have put them on their Heritage and are happy with it. Best bet would be to check with some of those guys and get their opinion. Same front end as a Slim so I don't see there bring an issue. I have found that most of the sales people at my local dealer have no clue what they are talking about. I have had several instances that they tell me that something can't be done, and it works fine.

It is bull. Mine does not shake. Just more misinformation from someone who should know better.
I had the Reckless Faring on my Fatboy Lo... never ever had an issue.. the front ends aren't that different.. and on top of it.. Kuryakyn sells a batwing w radio which the Stealership carries..
That's a load of BS.. My bike is smooth as silk on the slab. Only thing I've noticed is it picks up a cross wind a little more but a SG would do the same..
a salesman will tell you anything to have you buy a new bike, they make nothing just talking to you.. the ft ends are very close to eachother. The softail just has more rake in the neck than a bagger
I have one on my fatboy and no issues. But there is a difference in the softail/touring rake and that is one of the main reasons fairings on softails are more vertical. Touring bikes have a negative rake which allows for all tight steering the motor cops can do. Get in contact with Glenn from woodys fairings ( www.woodysfairings.com ). When I got mine from him he explained all the differences and what it will affect. Overall salesman was full of bs.
