Default RE: Rear Fender

ORIGINAL: 98FXSTC

Well heres the story the sales guy gave me.... Validity I am not sure of..[:-]

The bike was hauled around by a Harley dealer in Alabama to show what could be
added to a bike to customise it. All performance and dressup parts are OEM
H-D Engine has some work done a different cam from what it feels like
It is quicker then my sons 99 Dyna. Pretty torquey and scares the crap out of me
since it's been a few years from my last bike ownership. It had 3250 miles on the odometer
so I felt that was pretty low compared to about 1/2 dozen other 98's I looked at. Average was
about 24K miles. The fit & finish looks good so I somewhat believe this story. You wouldnt
want to show sloppy workmanship to crowds and prospective customers.

I wish I didnt have to change that rear fender but there wont be any living with the wife
if she cant ride It's not going to be a hard job or hard to find parts as well as fairly cheap.
I think all I need is a fender, mounting bolts, fender struts, turnsignal mounting bar, license plate
mount and rear stop light. And a good comfy seat. I would love to duplicate the graphics but that may be asking too much

Clammy you must be a West Coast Biker or work a night shift like me... Keeps me awake surfing the forums[8D]

Now if I could only learn how to embed pics...

Oh one last note... The sales guy claimed that the original bike with all the H-D aftermarket add ons was $28600 [8D]

Dave
Cumming GA
Nah, I'm not on the west coast or working the night shift... I'm just a night owl! If I don;t AHVE to get up in the morning, I stay up til 4 or 5 am and wake up at noon or later!

To embed pics, you just need to replace the "image" tag, that you used in your original post on this thread, with "img" .

Cheers!

Default RE: Rear Fender

I looked over the bike cant say who made the fenders and I'm not confident I will.
The front fender has a logo painted in with the graphics. "American Custom Paint"

Skip as a matter of fact much more adventurous then I
It's been a long while since I rode and most of the family was against this old man getting back on a bike.
Long story short.. my brother was killed while riding 3 years ago... The wife finally caved and agreed
to this purchase as long as she rides with me.. I guess if we go.. we go together After 35
years I guess she's a keeper [8D] We didnt own a car the 1st 2 years of marriage a Triumph and an
old 900 HD was all we had. Until our 1st born came along. We even dated thru H.S. on bikes.

But this FXSTC is a real big difference then any I've owned in past. I have some practice time
especially short slow corners and tight maneuvers. I can say I'm in love with this bike and mamma
The other promise is to stay off GA400 (Georgia Autobahn) and to take a safety course.

Appreciate all the inputs and the welcome recieved here

Default Mystery solved

I should have listened closer to what the sales guy told me about
this bikes history. It was trailered around to events so H-D could
show what mods could be done with genuine H-D parts and
performance products. It has the Stage III upgrade and the "Street
Stalker" body package installed. The rear fender is fiberglass with the
support struts hidden under the mounting skins. I have to get with
another owner with this package or a H-D contact to know if the fender
will support two up riding and if there is a two up seat available. If it will support a
passenger's weight then a pad may solve my problem
