Vance and Hines makes an excellent line of full systems and slip-ons. You can also send your stock mufflers to American Custom Exhausts. They'll take out the stock baffles, and add removable baffles that you can change out, depending on what type of sound you want.
There are several Heritage picture threads, that may give you some ideas...
was wondering what type pipes I needs to make it sound like a Harley.i live in ca. so they have to meet epa and will comply with my warranty.thanks
I think the only other pipes besides stock that are EPA complaint are the HD Screaming Eagle slip ons. They are a bit louder and deeper than stock and do claim performance gains. Every other slip on that I'm aware of has no catalytic converter, which I would imagine would make it illegal in CA.
Sounds like you are where I was back in March 2007. I had just bought a 2007 Heritage, my first Harley (my fourth MC), and was in search of facts, opinions and information.
Here is a link to my thread about the 2007 Heritage and many of the mods/accessories I added at that time.
Since then I have also added the Boss Bags liner system, "No more Fried Thighs" heat guards, and Firehouse Customs Rider Backrest. All three of these items have added greatly to my riding pleasure.
I also have changed out the passenger pillion and backrest to the Harley upgrades to make it more enjoyable for my wife when she joins me on a ride.

You might want to look into the "Fix my hog" series of Vids. They have a lot of good information in them. Check out the members classifieds for them or even fleebay.

Not on the Softails, they're in the mufflers.
OP I picked up my 13 FLSTC in Aug. I haven't done to much to it except I added the FL-VIED-10 from Nightrider, my top priority was to get the bike to run cooler..It worked.
