Throttle loose after ape install
I installed some Ape hangers about 6 months ago. After the install I noticed that the throttle grip / cable has a lot of play, while it doesnt realy affect riding and operations (prob cause i got used to it) it just bothers me. I have removed the sleeve that has the adjustment bolts on the cable and tightened it both ways and no real difference. I am not the best mechanic in the world, i just mainly tinker to save money, but I don't cut corners. Any advice from actual mechs or people that ran into a similar prob? thanks. (Thinking the length might be an issue)
some specs are:
14 inch Apes
burley cable sets. (listed for 14 to 16 inch bars)

With cables the more space you give with the adjusters the tighter they will get. Try adjusting the front cable (looking at your bike from the front) to fully extended first (tight) then mess with the other until it is perfect. Good luck.
I used the Burly cable kit for my clutch and throttle cables when I installed my 16" bars on a 5 inch riser. I've noticed that the throttle cables have stretched "A lot" since the install about 4 months ago. I"ve adjusted my clutch cable and throttle cables three times in that span. I'm thinking about swapping the cables out this winter for a higher quality set. Unless you've stretched yours completely out, you should be able to adjust them tighter.
I'd recommend taking off the breather so you can see the cables at the other end better and see if the throttle cable is even opening it up all the way. If you have too much slack in the able after fully extending at the adjusters, get a new cable set with appropriate length.
