Im 6'4" and 280 lbs and I am fine on my fatty with floor boards.
Although on loger rides I am gonna install some highway pegs to stretch out.
Now for the handle bars thats another story. They are way too low for me so i might be putting on some mini apes.
Fatboy owners are gonna tell ya Fatboy and FX owners are gonna tell ya night train, you need to consider the obvious differences. Fatboy has larger tires, bigger fenders, floorboards, fat forks, the classic fatboy look. Train has forward controls skinny front tire, blacked out engine. Having riddin both within the last year im partial to the FX line with the forward controls and skinny front tire, along with the blacked out engine. The front tire provides for some good cutting when turning, the black engine provides for a different look. Most importantly the forward controls, I prefer that comfort level for my legs..................If you get a train get some black pipes[sm=crossbonesgif.gif]
I see your 6'3, I would highly recommend FX bike, im only 5'10 and got extended forward controls on my springer, you will need to do the same, little harder for you tall boys to get comfortable, I always thought the Fatboy was a large bike, its not, stock Fatboy is pretty cramped................Again I rode a stock '06 the day after my buddy bought one last year, so im not just talkin out my ***
I'm 6'2", and don't feel cramped at all with the floorboards on my FatBoy.
Even so, I also installed the Mark 4 extended length highway pegs, and I have them adjusted so I can set my heels on the end of the floorboards with the soles of my boots on the forward pegs. Very comfortable, with an almost endless possility for foot positions.
I've only riding Harley's with forward controls for the past 35+ years, never had anything with mid controls or 'floorboards' before, but I love the floorboard/highway peg combination on my FatBoy. Much more comfortable than just having the normal forward control pegs.
But even so, the FatBoy has the same frame as the Deuce, so if you wanted it wouldn't take much to remove the floorboards and install the Deuce forward controls.
I've ridden Fat Boys, Road Kings(very smooth), Deuce, and my 05 an 07 trains. The road King had by far the most comfortable ride of the bunch. My 05 Nightrain handles the best at any speed over 10 mph. The Road King does the best in low speed handling (under 10 on down to speedo no move)You gotta ride em see what ya like.
My train does have an advantage over most other HD's, look at the front end. I reccomend it over the Wide Glide that comes standard on the train.
No one can tell you which is better for you, only a test drive can do that. There are a few differences you can consider though. Like floor boards /forward controls; wide front tire/skinny front tire; wider front fender/slender & short front fender (perhapsan issue if you ride in the rain); seat, handle bar comfort; will you want a wind shield or not...those kinds of things will help you make the right decision for your taste.
In any event ... good luck with your choice and ride safe!
I say FAT BOY I like the way it ride's with big front and rear tire's, now not to start war I love all harley's but the night train is afine bike BUT with skinny front tire and if you live in big city you have lot's of traffic and hard to see what lay's on road and if you hit something hard it COULD make your front tire flat or MAY bend rim, so yes love look of train, but street fight on busy highway's, just other day hit part of muffler that I did not see for traffic went over it and going 70 m.p.h. there it was could not react in time so I ran over it, allmost made me do header on bike but god was with me and I made the jump over metal, soon as I could got off highway to see if damage had been done to front tire or my undercarriage , everthing seemed fine no scratche's, funny allmost got killed and worrying about scratche's, because if gone down dumptruck right on my tail ,so I would be road kill, I like look of night train alot, but I need all rubber I can get, so sorry for rant, just don't want to diss other harley, and trying to explain in my limited capacity, but you need to test ride and if buying new dealer may set up bike for your height, I'm 5'10' 185 so I fit just right on bike, seat to ground is 25inche's, nice and low. GOOD LUCK on which ever you choose ,but please no more jap I mean(metric) what crap!!!!ALL HARLEY"S ARE GREAT MACHINE'S
