I agree, the drum brakes on the front are some of the best.

my $.02 - I went in to buy a fatboy, walked out w/a train. somebody said it, but the fatboy felt like I was sitting "on" it, and the train "in" it. I wanted forward controls, apes, etc., and the train was everything I was looking for! My best friend has a fatboy and we'll trade off on some rides. I'd say if you're going for longer rides, the fatboy is like driving a car compared to the train. In town, the train is great (where I usually ride). I wanted the looks of the train, but the balance of the fb, is amazing - you can basically sit on it and balance w/out moving, no way you could do that on a train. I agree w/most on here - ride them both, and decide what type of riding you're going to be doing, if I was going to be doing several 3+ hour trips, I'd be on a fb or other FL, short trips - train all the way. I do love the look of the FL front end though! One other option, I saw a bike at the dealership that blew me away, couldn't figure out what it was, looked like a train w/an FL front end. Met the guy and he told me it was a stripped down Heritage! I could have never visualized it. He'd pulled everything off, powder coated the whole bike, lowered it, apes, and put a Night Train medallion on the tank. It was killer! If you find the one you want to ride, you can make it "look" however you want - use your imagination.

Good luck, either one is awesome, and you'll be in love w/either. Let us know which one you decide on and send some pics.

I have a 05 vtx 1800 and just recently bought a 07 night train. I'm tall like you. The fat boy seemed a little cramped for me. The train feels great. One thing your really going to notice is the weight difference between the Honda and the train. Once I rode the night train there was nothing else for me. (except maybe a new road king...lol) Had to have it. Ride one and you'll see what I talking about.

What a silly question...does Harley make anything other than Fat Boys? I hadn't noticed!

ANY Harley is cool...good luck!

Ok, I am ready to buy a new harley and am torn between the fat boy or a night train. I like both but am trying to make a decision. Just some info about me,, I am 6'3, 36 years old and will be selling my vtx 1800 to get the harley. I like the honda just really want a harley. Does that make since? what bike do you think would suit me better? I know I will be going down in size but like I said just something about always wanting one. Thanks for the help.
Pick like my wife would, "the one with the pretty colors"!

My opinion, NT. Ride them both. Do you have any friends that have them? Ride one from them, if they will let you.
