Never heard of a HD OEM solo seat for the Breakout....would you post a pic or reference?

I am going to necro this thread for a second with a quick question for anyone who's tried HC's method. Where that bolt can pop up or down, has anyone attempted to add on the passenger seat to anchor with the bolt in the up position? Also does anyone know where to find that bolt? I saw it was a part for a Toyota Tacoma. Thanks in advance for any help.

Chris, that's not a specific solo seat the MoCo offers for the Breakout. That's just the "regular" Sundowner seat (option) they offer since the Breakout has been introduced. It's still intended to be used with the stock pillion or the corresponding Sundowner pillion seat.

The Sundowner is not what I would consider significantly different compared to the stock seat in terms of shape or comfort. And it still has those exposed mounting nuts that will be bothering you once you slide a bit to the back of the seat. It may be fine for some riders, though.

fwiw, I actually don't mind the bolts, when riding without the pillion. I agree they aren't the most comfortable thing in the world, but they aren't THAT bad.

I just wish there was a better looking way to bolt the back end down, that didn't require plastic body clips. Might go get some chrome cap nuts, but I think they will be more uncomfortable than the stock nuts are

If you're just looking for something nicer than those stock nuts you could use the seat mounting nuts by Mustang

They're supposed to fit with the pillion, too.

Yep, got them from my dealer. The stock ones looked quite worn and corroded after 2 years that's why I wanted chromed ones....

Well I have both seats and the Sundowner is a much different shape and feel than the stock. I completely felt the same way with the stock seat as someone else said. It feels like you are going to slide off the back. I thought the "solo" seat was meant to be used, well solo... Either way it definitely resolves that problem. It has more of a cup for your rear and doesn't feel like you will slide off the back. Also I have never once felt the two screws on mine, maybe you guys have a bit larger butt, however I think this is probably because of the extra padding, that has never been an issue with mine. Try one out and I bet you will agree.
