Cracked Case? I may be loosing my mind...

I am getting ready to ride the scoot tonight and when I was cleaning her up a little, I was looking down behind the oil tank and noticed a hole in the bottom case and it almost looks like its cracked on top and bottom. There is no oil or anything and I have washed and cleaned my bike many, many time and never noticed this.

Does anyone know if this is normal? lol

My bike has the same thing so I would say normal, or a really freaky coincidence that both our cases cracked in the same place at the same time.

OK, whew. But what is it for? It just stuck me as odd having a big hole in the case. Maybe it helps dispell heat or something?

Totally normal. That gap is for spliting the cases. When I split my cases to do my crank I found some pis poor machining there and it is right by an oil passage. Wash it and move on. Mine leaked from day one. Never realy bothered me.
