Anyone ever had their Heat Shields powder coated ?? I am thinking I want my Vance and Hines Big Radius shields Flat Black now ?? Just a thought over winter ....
You don't have to use any special high temperature powder on heat shields so you can use any color you want, gloss or satin. Shields don't get hot enough to affect the powder unlike mufflers. Works fine.
I spoke with a few local powder coaters and they disagreed and felt the powder may not hold up over time. A solution that was recommended was to ceramic coat the pipes, then powder coat the shields. This way the heat would be reduced.
I'm just going by my powder coat guy's company and what he's done for me over the past
10 years. He's done a few sets for me, some in black and some in a metallic bronze semi gloss that make the pipes look like a steam engine. All have held up perfectly.
I left my heat shields chrome but I did have my 3 head pipes chrome/silver ceramic coated. It really knocks down the heat on the heat shields. It was a price I could live with too, 3 pipes $125.00 That is on the Samson 39" cholos.
