The best way to lower is to install a airshock, I have a SAS on mine and you set what ever hight you want to, when I park the bike I drop it almost at the tire, is great for the looks of it.

Right on. I used progressive springs. Not bad but like I said 2 inches made the riding uncomfortable.
On another subject, my rear tire is just about finished. Anyone care to share their preferences on tires for the Breakout?
A 260 will always wear a bit faster in the middle because the tire is bolder on the oem rim. In the meantime, I have driven this tire aprox 5000 miles and is still in good shape,
I am even surprised that it still looks good and shows very little wear.

And yea I hear you on the chicken strips. Mine lowered 1 inch still can't corner like I want to. But oh well.
I agree with MoneyFor, air-ride is the best, I have Legend. Not sure what you mean by springs? I use Progressive 422 shocks on my Rocker lowered just over 1.5" and the ride is not bad, actually better then the stock shocks, but yes, dropped the full 2", it gets pretty rough....
I also like the 260mm 880 Marathon, the 888 is their harder compound "ultra milage" tire, the 880 uses Metzelers "High grip soft compound"...So yes the 888 will last longer, but I'll take the extra grip over a few extra miles!!

I too run with a 260 Metzeler 880 and was under the perhaps mistaken understanding the 888s replaced the 880s? At the time of swapping the tire out last year despite being advertised I couldn't get an 888 in the size. Shotgun Shock for me based on the decision that in the UK it was only Shotgun that provided a 'lifetime warranty' everyone else was two years. Noticed with interest but little personal concern that there was a case of Metzeler delamination recently on the forum, where they are actually made may have a bearing on this perhaps? Only got 6k odd miles out of the OEM tire so will see how the Metzeler pans out.

I've heard that before, but they've been selling the 880 along with the 888 for several years, and it's still readily available. The 880 is also still on the Metz. site, but they don't list the 260mm?? The last one I got had a fresh date code, so I'm not sure if they're discontinuing it are not....I better order a couple just in case, I run it on both bikes. lol
