I've been running a Power Commander V (PCV) on my '07 Fatboy for close to six very satisfying months. The bike has been running extremely well; there was no prior indication of trouble. Just before Christmas, coming home from work, I exited the highway and my bike went into "limp home" mode at the stop light.
The bike didn't throw any error codes which wasn't any help. Early on, I removed the PCV and reconnected the ECM factory-style and the bike ran fine again. I reloaded the map that I had been running, hoping it would thump the PCV back into working order, but no dice. Now I am running lean.
I hate to abandon the PCV for broke. Can you recommend any troubleshooting steps that I can put toward the PCV? Does DynoJet have a way to confirm that the unit is ruined beyond recovery?
If the tuner is toast, I am considering a dyno session with factory ECM tune. Are there any cons to this route other than cost?
Mine did the same thing just weeks after having it installed. I was against a piggy back fuel management system from the start but got talked into it by a local Indy. When it happened I removed it and the bike ran fine. I later went with the SERT and Dyno and haven't regretted it.
Have you contacted Dyno Jet about the Power Commander V or even Fuel Moto to see if they could help?
Might be a loose contact or something as simple as that. Check all the connectors for corrosion as the weather has been nasty and could be causing you the problem.
