Q about the HD Combination Speedometer/Tachometer for Heritage...
Black dial is excluded.
there are 74774-11A, 74775-11A, and 70900171A. I want the MPH, and all 3 of them say gauge only in the description on HD's website.
If they aren't sent with the data cable, on the newer bikes, does just hooking them with the cables take care of transferring the milage?
I won't be replacing this myself, it will be by a HD mechanic when I get my bike painted, but I want to make sure I order the right one.
Thanks!
74775-11A is KPH.
74774-11A is MPH.
Hope this helps.
I wish the tach were bigger myself. Old eyes, you know.
Gauge speedometer shows MPH only
74775-11A
Gauge speedometer shows KM/H only
70900171A
Gauge speedometer shows MPH and KM/H
Since you only want MPH then 74774-11A is the one you want.
To answer your second question, yes, it is very much a worthwhile investment.
You get a speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, clock, gear indicator, two odometers and distance to empy estimate. You can specify whether fuel gauge or gear indicator are shown. You can also specify a myriad of colors for the gauge backlight, the speedo, the speedo needle, the tach and the tach needle.
Here is the 70900171A on my 2012 Heritage
I also love the color combinations though it's a bit fiddly to set it up.
I think it also looks really nice.

It's certainly one of the many upgrades that if it broke, I'd replace it with the same thing.
I have no problem reading the tach and the fuel gauge when reading empty leaves me about 1/2 gallon reserve which is pretty accurate as far as I'm concerned.

It will take a couple of tankfuls to calibrate accurately.
Also, the new one has all of the same LCD readouts as the stock speedo, except for the tach w/gear display. Sure it has the new analog tach dial, but I still wonder why they went out of their way to remove that one readout... That was the one I always had it set on on the stock one.
You get something like 30-32 miles to decide if you like it, and to make sure it's all working properly - after that it will "marry" the unit to your VIN, after which it will be un-returnable...
