Just my .02 on the Harley Boom Audio system. I put the windshield mounted version on my Crossbones and it does sound pretty good, even up to 70 and 80 mph. After about 6 months, the power from the amp was intermittent. It might work and it might not. Then it started working again after about a week and then about a week after that the amp completely quit on it. If you hook an ipod up to it, you can clearly still hear the music coming through the speakers but with no amp powering the speakers. Which means its pretty well worthless as soon as you start your engine. Another thing that sucks is that the amp is hardwired into the wiring so there is no way to fix just the amp. Ive been thinking about maybe trying to cut the amp out of the wiring and somewhat try to wire a new one in, but I'm definitely not an electrician. I've been thinking about going with another sound system, just have gotten around to it yet.
After numerous touring, sporty and now a softail rides I always fall back to my ear molded "Fit ear" pods for sounds when Im riding. Ive had numerous huge sound systems on my FLH but once in the wind it gets washed away by the wind. After opting for a full ear molded pod by big ear Ive never looked back. Not a great option if you want everyone else to hear what your playing but if you want great tunes and controllable volume then big ear or fit ear is a great choice on and off the bike.
You see these guy at just about every major bike run and gun events and it takes a few weeks once they mold your ear for the perfect fit. Once they arrive in your mailbox you'll wonder why you didn't buy them earlier....also work for eliminating wife noise. I have the MX2 drivers and use them on and off the bike....what you hear and don't is just a volume adjustment away.

Agreed brother, there is nothing better then that, have a pair myself with Bose speakers, till I had a cop draw down on me cuz I didnt hear him behind me with his siren. He thought I was evading him but I didn't hear him. Scarred the **** out of me and my riding buddy cuz we both had earphones and didnt hear him. Had earphones for years riding crotch rockets and now my cruisers. First time ever in years but scarred us pretty good.
