Default Anyone with Ultima Wheels Experience here ?

Hi Guys,
Ultima gets a really bad rep. in Magazines like Horse, HotBike, etc. for being a knock-off and stealing manufacturer.
Now I see a good deal on Chrome spoke wheels out, but it is Ultima, on one hand, spoke wheels are such old technology that anyone can make one safetly, on the other hand, you do not want to take a chance on something like a wheel really on the bike, you got only two..

So I am sharing with my brothers here, have you had experience with them before ? good ? bad ?

I've had my king spokes for 2 yrs. So far so good. I had a front wheel bearing go out within the first few months, but I found a little water in it(probably from a couple stops at the car wash). I can't blame Ultima on that.

I have an Ultima 21" 80 spoke chrome on the front of my FXSTC. Ebay special. Finish is perfect and its twice as heavy as the stock wheel so I cant imagine its junk potmetal. I had to do a couple of things before installing though, which included trueing (wasnt bad but I made it better), you absolutely have to set your bearing endplay and repack grease in the bearings before installing. There was absolutely no endplay on my wheel. If I would have installed without checking, when tightening the axle the bearings would have been forced into the races big time. Other than those minor adjustments I am very pleased with my purchase. $225 shipped to my door. cant beat it

No problem. I literally searched the entire internet for weeks looking for reviews on the ultima regular spoke wheels and could only find a few comments on forums...which contained mixed reviews just like any other part out there. Someones always gonna say theyre junk while another says they worked just fine. I finally pulled the trigger after a month of debating in my head and Im happy. Looks sick too.

I have had mine for 2 years and no issues. The chrome isn't perfect but only noticeable if you are up close looking for it. I went 21/18 with new avons and it rides great. I would do it again for sure.
