Pinion shaft question...
Upgrading my 06 Fatboy t/c 88'' to a 98". I wasn't expecting to hear from my builder on a Sunday. I was hoping he was going to tell me my parts are ready to pick up. Right then and there I got worried about something. He had asked me if my pinion shaft in the cam chest looks smooth or like corduroy pants. He then said that my pinion shaft bushing was in sad shape. BTW, this was all in a message email. I told him my pinion shaft was smooth. He hasn't returned my message yet and I'm afraid when he does. Does this sound pretty bad what this all means. I only have 3000 miles on it. I know they sell the pinion bushings. Of all the big names that sell it, I am thinking this is pretty common. Can it be repaired? Please someone tell me good news. Thanks to all who replies...Ray...

Ray, if your not converting to gear driven cams it's not really an issue, but if you are you will have to check your pinion run-out like QC said to make sure your within spec.
