I just bought an '08 heritage softail classic and am trying to decide which pipes to run. I like the looks of true duals, and I'm considering the Vance and Hines part number 16793 (http://www.vanceandhines.com/store/softail/fullsystem/16793). Is anyone out there running these pipes, and how do you like them? Also, I'd like to run passenger floorboards instead of pegs for my wife, are these pipes compatible with passenger floors? It's hard to tell in the pics if there's enough clearance on the left side of the bike for this.
Welcome to the Forum, and congrats on the New to You ride!
I am running the Samson True Duals and there is enough clearance to run the passenger floorboards. Not sure on the V&H, but I would hope there is. Give them a call, they will let you know.
I considered vance and hines but they only come in one length so I went with Samson's because they come in a variety of length sizes and you can also choose if you want baffles, non-baffled, and removable baffles
I have the V&H longshots and went to HD this morning to order the foot board passenger kit and yes it will work. Just under 600.00 bucks in chrome hardware.
Thanks for the input. I definitely like the look of duals over the long shots. I'll check with V&H, but it sounds like the Samson's are a great option as well. Thanks!
In case your totally new,, most guys with TD's have said and most dyno sheets does show a little drop in TQ in the low rpms when using TD's and/or long pipes..
If Performance is second behind Looks then it won't matter to you...If Performance is No. 1 then I'd suggest you research more.

Thanks for the info. Great looking bike you've got! Would you mind posting another pic or two of a close up of the passenger floorboard, maybe with it folded down as well?
Thanks!
I originally bought the vnh true duals , then i found a set of samson 4 inch mufflers that i put on , they fit right on the vnh system all i had do was buy the samson slipon bracket If i were to do it again i would probably just go with the samson as there are more options as far as slipons, and either system works with P floorboards as u can see. In the smaller pic i had them off in the bigger pic.

Here's a couple with the rear floorboards down. Bags were off for cleaning.
