2007 Harley Deluxe, Adding Samson True Dual Long Cholo pipes Non baffled. everyone says to add a tuner, Im leaning towards Cobra o2 F2000? Any suggestions, I do not want to deal with dyno costs....please advise
I know This has been touched on before but the responses are all up and down.
I just ordered a Power Vision from Jamie at fuel moto. Went with the PV because I may end up going with a woods cam in the future. Thought about a PV5, but that has to stay on the bike.
Just ease of use and unlimited options with the PV, IMHO
My vote is for the Power Vision purchased through Fuel Moto. You pay a little more buying it through them, but the support you for the product and your bike is well worth it.
I owned a Fuelpak that was on my Sportster. It was okay. There was minimal performance increase with my complete stage 1 setup after trying various maps. The PV on my Softail Slim with a complete stage 1 setup really opens up the bike. If you have a computer, you can edit the map and do all sorts of other things to enhance the tune and performance. Another plus is that the PV device does not need to stay mounted on the bike. You just flash the ECM and you're all set.
I love my FuelPak, and the wife's FuelPak is doing great too. I've had mine on for over 4 years now, and hers was just added with some Samson pipes a month ago.
You're not going to get some amazing power increase with a FP. If you want power increase and every .01 of HP you can muster, then go with a high-dollar PV or PCV or even a SERT. If you want cheap that you can plug and play, go with FP.
You can use one of the XIED products. They are inexpensive and all you do is plug them in. They are not a full blown "tuner". They are a fuel enrichment device.
You can see all the different options we offer HERE.
They get the job done and work great if all you are doing is a stage 1 upgrade. As said before, they are not tuners, so if you are wanting to do cam work or head work, this is not the product for you.
Here is an overview of all the tuners that you might find useful.
Two of my riding biddies and myself use the Cobra Fi2000 with the 02 sensors and they have run great. We all have stage 1 with add ons. They came set up for our bikes but we adjust them as we make changes. They install in an hour and can be adjusted like a carb.
We NEVER get pop on decel or detonation...ever. You don't need to take a course, or a dyno or a smartphone or anything else to make it work...
I too have the Fuel Pak with my V&H short shots and it's okay for a band-aid. My bike runs too rich for my tastes but I got what I paid for. I didn't want to deal with a check engine light or a motor starving for fuel. I'll upgrade to a tuner and take it to my local dyno guy when I'm ready for a set of cams. Until then, I'll deal with what I have.
The cool thing about the Fuel Pak is that you can call V&H, tell them what you have and what's going on with the bike and they can give you custom settings to install. I wasn't happy with the fuel shut off mode so the guy told me how to shut it off. I still don't get much popping.
I just bought a Superchips vigilante. downloading this wknd. IMHO it hits a sweet spot for most of us. It's only good for Ex and intake mods but has many to choose from, all of which are dyno tuned on a bike on their dyno. So you get dyno tuned results without the dyno tuned expense. downside is if you ever go beyond ex and intake mods you're starting over.
I currently have FL-ViED-10's installed on my 2012 Deluxe. For the price they're OK. I get lots of decel popping. When I first installed and adjusted them, very little decel popping. It's like the ECM learns over time and starts to lean the motor out ... Popping has returned. (yes I have checked for leaks)
I have now purchased the new FP3 and will install it this weekend.
IMHO, the Cobra o2 F2000 is fuel management only not a tuner. Get the Power Vision or FP3, more bang for the buck.
