The battery for my dad's 07 Harley Davidson FLSTC heritage softail is slowly dieing off. We were told that if we pull the battery we would have to have a MC shop reflash the security system? I never heard of this and wanted to be sure before doing it. I have had a 09 Fat bob and 09 super glide custom and never heard of that but I am not 110% sure the security system is the same I believe it is.
It is the stock HD security system.
I don't want this thing going out I just pulled it out of storage so that me and my dad can go riding soon.

I just replaced mine myself, no need to involve the dealer. Never heard of that, but I avoid my dealer at all costs. They tend to lie to get you to spend more money there.

Sounds like something Harley would say to squeeze some more money out of you! Haha that's crazy! Just change your battery once a year and you'll be good! Try and pick a day you will remember to do so like a birthday or Christmas!
Thanks all. Believe it or not it is something a buddy of mine with a 02 Fat boy said. I guess I shouldn't have listened to him since he has rev tech crap in it. LOL

I replace my FOB batteries every year but throw the old ones in the TP, just in case.
What can go wrong?
I have two FOB's. As I replace one battery, the other battery would maintain contact with the bike, if it were true, but it isn't needed because it doesn't have a link with the bike except having to be close enough to start the bike.

Our other key fob is with the lease company right now.
I thought that is all it had to do with.

Of course I don't keep the pass code with it.
I'll not be left stranded.
I do to I learned to do it the hard way (09 super glide custom locked up from not having the code while transporting)
