Default 2010, stock FLSTC backfire

hiya, I have a 2010 stock Heritage Classic..lately it is sluggish when starting.. and when I back off the throttle I get popping and backfires... there is no timing adj or such since its all electronic now..so is this a chip prob or any thing like that..?? any clues..?

Sluggish starting could indicate a ground or battery problem. You might check your battery voltage, loose cables, etc...

Are you using a fuel management system? If so you are running rich. I had the exact same problem, and I was running rich. Once I changed the afr it stopped immediately. I thought it was the battery because when I would try and start up my bike it would struggle to turn over like the battery was out of juice, but I soon realized that that along with the backfiring and popping I got on decel were connected.
