On my 03 standard, the black is the ground, pink is the tach signal, and orange is power. This is a Harley tach. I ran the ground and power under the tank and back under the seat. The ground was tapped into the common ground that the battery ground hooks to on the frame. The power was spliced into the orange power supply wire to the tail lights. On my bike, there was a pink wire coming out of the wire harness for the speedo that had a terminal on it and was tied separate.This is under the tank console. That was the tach signal wire already set up by Harley. Don't know if your bike is the same, but hope this helps.
