Default Fuel Tank Emblem Install

Are there any tricks or easy way to install a fuel tank emblem?

I purchased a new emblem with the double stick decal on the backside. Are there any templates or any old thread that shows how to properly install them? I just want to make sure they are even and levelled on both sides.

If it's the metal type with tape on the back.
I cut a refrigerator magnet and taped it on the back of the emblems.
Then I could place them on the tank and any position until I got the best location
I then marked the tank with cut up post it notes.

If it's the flexible kind light tape it on back to get tank in the location you want.

Either kind it's normally a get it right the first time deal.

I think that's why he said he taped the magnet to the emblem...

Maybe a bit of overkill...but I've always used fishing line taped to the tank for the Horizontal and vertical lines to line up the new emblems on a tank. Do one side and then move to the other and match the alignment. The fishing line pulls out from behind the emblem with no problem{use thin line}. Just another option.
