what could cause oil getting in my rotor and stator?

Because your Stator and Rotor are immersed in the primary oil!!! I'm not being sarcastic but you need to invest is a Harley Service Manual. It is the best money you can spend on your bike. Your Harley Dealer will provide you with the proper manual for roughly $60.00 bucks.

You may have one of the production models that you have to keep wiping the oil off the stator. This should be evident by a roll of paper towels included in the tool kit.
Actually, what alongapol said is correct. The primary chain and clutch basket are bathed in the primary oil for cooling and smooth action. Now if you're running an open primary, please refer to the first two sentences above.

Yep, they do.. Now if you have a belt driven primary then the engine seal is leaking

Maybe he's actually talking about the points and condenser, or an external generator on an older bike? I'm stumped too!
