Default Baffles for gutted Heritage mufflers?

Hey,

I've got a 1995 Nostalgia that I put a set of old gutted Baloney cut Heritage mufflers on and I installed a set of Thunder Monster lollipop baffles in the head pipes.

I've been riding it this way for a few years, but now I'm starting to feel like I'd like to try to put some better baffles back on this bike. I lost some top end on the highway when I made the change and also it can get almost painfully loud at times.

I really haven't found slip-ons that I like the look of as much as the Heritage mufflers, so I was wondering if anyone can recommend a set of replacement baffles that will work in the Heritage mufflers.

Is there a way to get the Rush 1.75 baffles to work? I've already got holes drilled in the end of the head pipes from mounting the Thunder Monsters.

-Thanks

I have American Custom Mid-Rumble baffles in mine and I love the sound.

You will have to take some measurements, but I would look at Big City Thunder quiet baffles or Smartpartz quiet baffle. Both have websites and installing these may help you performance.

Looks like the inside diameter is 2 3/8". It's difficult to measure with the baloney cut ends. Does anyone know if this sounds about right?

Also, what have you guys done to plug the holes in your headpipes from the BCT baffles? Would just leaving a mounting bolt and nut in there suffice?

What about running the BCT lollipop baffle in the head pipe and a baffle in the muffler? I've read on here that BCT recommends that with some muffler setups.

Lollipops and mufflers together is a common practice. You can go on eBay and buy several different sized "can opener" steel baffles. You can have a shop spot weld 'em in or bolt 'em in. Measure what you have as close and cut the baffles as needed

Same as I used with stock gutted Heritage mufflers, love them. I like the look also.

Are you guys talking about these?

http://www.americancustom.com/produc...affles-softail

Do they fit properly already or did you have to modify them? Did you bolt them in or tack weld them? Any info you've got on them would be great.

The only other baffles I've come across that have the 2 3/8" Diameter are the Vance and Hines 2 to 1 competition Quiet baffles.

Anyone tried these in the stock Heritage muffler?

I've also considered just getting the QQ headpipe baffles from Big City Thunder, but the price just seems a bit hard to justify for what they are. I guess if they work, it would be worth it, maybe.

The other issue with the QQ BCT baffles is that I've already got holes in the headpipe for the original BCT baffles, and I think I've read on this forum that they now are recommending installing 6" inside the headpipe.

I ordered a set of the slightly blemished Heritage mufflers ( they look almost like new ) with the mid rumble baffles and kept my stock mufflers just in case I might want them later for some reason. The baffles slip right into the mufflers with a bolt in the rear that secures them. Perfect fit with no issues. Or you can send in your stock mufflers and have them gut them for you and install the baffles. Hope this helps.

Hey hair, keep an eye on those baffle bolts, I had one come out and got lucky, found it. The lock tight melts, so I think I'm going to rivet them.
