Default HELP new harley owner

Ok guys I've researched this and researched this etc... I just purchased a 2000 softail standard great running bike, it doesn't have turn signals (not required in Ill) but I bought some 2wire led bullet lights I hooked up the rears with a resistor across them and all I get is a steady on when I press either right or left but if I use the hazards they flash I guess my questions is do I have to have the fronts also hooked up for the tsm to work properly ? The reason I ask is I was told if the tsm thinks a bulb is out (because the fronts not hooked up?) it will just keep the lights on solid. Is this true? Also do I have to have the fronts hooked up as running lights (3 wire) or can I just run the 2wire for turn signal only thanks guys any help will be appreciated

usually the flash rate will be rapid to indicate burnt out bulb, not sure what the resistor is for ? are the bulbs in the lights dual elements or single with a ground and positive?
I am thinking you need a dual filament light with one wire going to the tailolight circuit and and the other into the appropriate turn signal circuit, and the ground would be achieved with the lights case being attached to the bike. Depending on the mounting point of the light you may need to run a wire from the base of the light to a good ground. If your using a single element light , then the positive lead would go to the turn signal circuit and the negative wire to a good ground.

He said they are LEDs lights....So no they are not duel elements.

When I put LED's on the back of an old bike I had, I didn't use the resistor and just had a rapid flash when the blinker was on because LED pulls less power then element bulbs.

Did you try it without the resistor? If the hazard lights flash, Seems like it has to be something small, because that proves the lights are getting power and your switches work.

missed the led part , sorry , but again if they are dual intensity leds , it means both wires go hot to illuminate and the ground comes from the actual case of the light , then as before one goes to the running light power source and the other to the turn signal power source. if one wire is power and the other ground then the will either be steady birn or flashing turn signal whichever way you hook them up to . resistor would go inline from the turns signal power source to the light to fool the flasher into thinking it has a load , but will reduce the voltage to the light also . So pretty much what i said earlier would remain the same, if both wires into the light are hot each one need to go to the power source that you want it to control, with the ground coming from the mounted light. if you have one hot wire and one ground wire you will not get running lights and turn signal from the same light, unless you have the converter to change the trun signal;s to a run brake turnsignal like harley and others sell.
