It is incredibly comfortable ... I don't have the Gel in it either ... It really holds you in well with higher curved up back ...
Could you comment on the seating position? Do you sit any more forward or back relative to the stock seat? I'm thinking of getting this seat but I'm concerned about sitting any closer, then I would also have to do the controls extensions.

I worked with Sherry over the course of 5 months on two custom seats for my bike. While the first one was beautiful, the pink was overwhelming and their seat they used moved me too far forward (I'm 5'9" and have LONG legs). So we sent them a stock heritage seat to recover with some changes to the color scheme. The end result is below and it's GORGEOUS!! I couldn't be happier with the end result. Both Sherry and Derek were amazing to work with.
I recently picked up a 2013 Slim and the stock seat was uncomfortable for me after about 90 minutes of riding. Being that the wife also wanted a more substantial seat, I searched around and based on the Danny Gray reputation ordered the Weekday XL. It's firm to the touch and doesn't give at all when you sit on it but it's pretty comfortable for about 90 minutes, then I'd probably still be ok with it if I could just shift around on the seat a little but with the curved shape and small size to work with, there's just no place to move around on it. The wife is much happier with this than the stock seat but after about 60 minutes she's ready for a break.
For comparison, a couple years back I had a 2008 deluxe (stock seat sucked after 45 minutes) and got a Mustang Wide touring, that seat was amazing. Though it looked similar to stock without the rail, I could and did right 2600 miles in 5 days without a complaint.
I'm torn about whether to stick with the Weekday XL as the styling isn't bad and not sure how many long rides I'll really be taking or search for something that better suits me.
Danny Gray butt crack solo. I like the seat, I like the look, but after a couple of hours I begin to get fidgety and some discomfort. I think if the back of the seat blended or laid back into the fender some more it would be perfect.
