Harborfreight High lift is the way to go for me. It fits under my lowered Fatboy Lo and the wife's Sportster. The bikes are stable and I always use the straps to secure them. It make fluid changes a snap as there is nothing to get in the way.

My Laren has been good to me. The only issue with it (and all scissor lifts) is that it makes it difficult to get directly under the bike to work. ie: shock bolts.

I have been looking at the HF high lift...lots of good reviews on those.

You'll love the high lift. Like you mentioned there is so much more room to work under the bike.

I'm just waiting on one of those good 20-25% off coupons to show up.

I'm a cheap bastard.

I've been using this 1500 lb jack from Lowes, works great and have been happy with it. They have great sales on it frequently.

DAMN! This is the first time I've seen this jack. It's on the list of things to buy. I just hope that the 10 years Chinese kid that welded it together wasn't on his 18th hour at work.

Harbor Freight coupon code 54708713

Works both online and in stores (I verified with my local HF)

Good for 25% off.

That puts the high position lift at $135.00

Hmm... traps and stirrups... you sure this isn't a sex machine toy doubling as a motorcycle lift?

I just strap the bike from the handlebars to the overhead beam to keep it steady. No pressure at all on the beam unless the jack just flat gives away. I believe if that ever was to happen that the 2x10 will hold the weight of the front of the bike without problem. The rear will drop to the floor if jack gives away. I only jack a bike up enough to clear the tires.

...
Pretty beefy welds on mine, look pretty good. Looked at the new model HF scissors jack last time I was there (black, guess it replaces the yellow), and no way would I trust that thing under a big bike, had some awful welds. One in the next box might be perfect, who knows with stuff from China.

When I put mine together, I greased all the bolts through the lifting bars and the holes they went through, figured it couldn't hurt. Also, the adhesive on the rubber pads doesn't hold, need to glue them with something better - not a big issue considering how good the rest is.

Dang it, I got cheated! Didn't have those with mine. Not that I wanted them anyway... . .
