If it's a "slug" and it bothers you that much, sell it and get a crotch rocket. I wouldn't blame you if you did. Being unhappy with something deserves a change.
If you think a softail is slow, ride an 883. I've ridden 250cc metrics that would beat mine to 100. Wait, my 883 won't do 100...
My 1200 sporty and old Glide with an S&S 96 stretch the arms a bit, though, haven't been left behind by any pickup trucks like I have on the 883. Might not be Hayabusa challengers, but I don't complain about their get up and go. At some point, I don't even want more power, know I'd be tempted to use it, and what I've had has got me in trouble enough...
I'll speak for myself here. mine is a slug. probably could lose to a camry. unfortunately i'm still living by the mantra "never tear down a running bike". intake, exhaust, and fuelpak just didn't do squat for me. maybe a professional tune will wake the bike up with what i have, or maybe i should just pick up a different fuel/air tuner like the commander or vision. maybe once i get deep in the mileage i'll open up the chest and start the surgery. maybe i'll sell it and just keep driving the mustang around town. 6mpg at a time...
I agree 100 %. It's pathetic. I bought my 2014 Breakout and immediately dropped it off for motor work. Now it Hauls *** and rides like it should.
well I guess there should be a guideline created to identify what different posters mean about fast. I mean if you get a touring bike, note the name touring then why are you trying to break the land speed record.
The OP was talking 85mph, about 137km a speed I see on occasion but not a steady cruise. perhaps we could establish what a steady touring speed is and how many have trouble getting there and holding it.
Having gone to 180km because I could, hauling 2up loaded all day at 75mph or 120km even uphill with the ability to pass is what I call touring speed.
like i said before, as a drag racer, i use speed in reference to 0-60mph. off the line.. the feeling of being pushed back and having to hold on for dear life.
