Default Baffels keep coming loose.....

I hava 03 Night Train with Screaming Eagle pro 2 into 1 exhaust and can't keep the baffels tight. Have tried everything, loctite, star washers, torquing the **** outta the bolts. Actually lostmy baffels on the freeway last week. Just paid $50 for a new set and don't want to losethis one. I am thinkingI might be able to safety wire the two 1/4"bolt heads together. I am unsure if this will hold em. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Did you use the white high-heat Loctite?

Cheers!

Ya know anyone with a wire or mig welder?
It would only take a second or two toweld at least one of the screws to a nut inside where it doesn't show and the heat won't affect the chrome.
Just pick one that you can get at later with a die grinder or dremmel tool, in case you have to get it out sometime in the future.
Safety wire should do the trick if its done properly.

Thanks for the advice gents!
Clammy and Wasp, Have not tried that one. Will give it a shot.

cleanimages, Sorry I can't hear what your saying? Can you speak up? I have been running with em out, it friggin killed the low end, and ran like dokie!!!

Citoriplus, Was thinking along those lines as well. Can't get to the bolts as they are behind the rear donut. Will probably go this route once all dyno tuning is complete.

Much appreciated guys!!!

I had the drag pipe baffles on my sporty kept coming loose, I took the new set (after loosing the old ones) and figured out how far the nut went on the bolt and drilled a small hole thru the bolt so I could insert a small cotter pin to keep the nut from coming all the way off, afterthat when I heard a rattle in the exhaust I'd get out the wrenches and tighten them up. Only problem was trying to get the bolt into the hole from the inside, but it worked. Just my .02

JohnK/Pa, It sounds like your baffel is designed a little different than mine. On mine, at the end is a big round metal donut. The two mounting screws attach from the outside and screw into two metal tabs. The tabs are not accessable from the end of the pipe because the donut is in the way. [sm=smiley24.gif]

I hear a lot of good advice allready but when in the U.S.M.C. we had to lock wire all our bolt's not sure if you could do it to your baffle but if you could it should hold up and if you needed to ever remove then you still could. just my penny. GOOD LUCK. OH by the way when your baffle came out on freeway did it bean any one!!?? I know not funny to you or someone else but I have been hit by crap all the time!! PURPLE HAZE.

Hey purple haze, I used to give you ridesfor free. Haze grey and underway!!!!!

To be honest I didn't notice it come out. It must have come out at just the right rpm cause it wasn't until I let off the throttle that I was like, holey CHIT thats loud. It really sucks cause the harley dyno guy had around5 hours of time into tuning that particular baffel. Blows mud!!
