I've never used the spray paint, but I've had some stuff powdercoated with the wrinkle black powder and it's an exact match. You may not get the same look with the spray can, but hopefully it will be close.
I ordered a can of the spray paint from Harley... to fix a small area on my primary cover. HD calls it 'texture black' I am pretty sure. I cleaned the engine area that I was going to paint with lacquer thinner then sprayed away using a mask to fog the edges. You can't tell it was painted.
There is a product from S100 that makes the old texture black finish look brand new...
There is Texture Black spray (pn 98606BF) and Black Wrinkle Finish spray (pn 98606CJ)
The oil tank, engine block of the Night Train is Black Wrinkle Finish.
I tried it on a couple of access. boxes, worked on one, not
the other. Be sure the outside Temp. is correct and not much humidity.
If you just need a touch up I would us theTexture Black spray and not worry about the Wrinkle.
Have not used the textured HD paint but have had much success with other brands of spray can textured paints. Follow the directions and most importantly make sure you follow the temperature recommendations. The brands I've used did not texture completely if it was too cold.
The only thing worse than trying to achieve perfection with a spray can is trying to do it twice.
