Default WOLO Bad Boy airhorn

I have installed these horns on 2 other bikes & used the relay that comes with them. The description says " just plug in the stock horn connectors". Has anyone here ever hooked one up by just hooking up the stock wires? If so, di it work OK or do I need to wire up the relay?

I've been using mine for a couple of years without the relay.
Safer with the relay, but I've had no problems at all wiring it up directly to the existing stock horn connections.

I've also been using mine without a relay for a couple of years without a problem, after reading that several others here had done it successfully.

Perhaps it would be louder with heavier wiring and a relay... I haven't checked.

I've had mine fitted for about a year using the stock wiring. Because of the current pull, it is going to drop the voltage and not be as loud as if you wire in using the relay. I don't know whether the voltage drop is the cause, or the current pull, but very very occasionally, the horn won't sound on the first press for me. I haven't experienced the problem often enough, or indeed used the horn often enough, for me to investigate or go to the effort of rewiring with the relay.

REal easy mount, just need a 1/2" wrench for the motor mount and a 3/8" for the screws behind the horn. The horn is marked + and - on the leads underneath. Just be sure to zip tie any wire slack so it doesn't rest on the cylinders. I've run them directly and with the relay, the relay does seem to put more juice to it for a louder horn.

Thanks Gunny. So, I assume the stock mount on the motor is strong enough to hold the heavier horn?

I just recently installed one on my deluxe. The relay mounted to the back of the horn mount. It made a really clean install, There is a video on youtube showing how it's done. (wolo install on Harley)

Default Use the relay

Wire through the relay will make the horn louder. Use the stock wires to trigger and ground the relay.

While the horn is decent looking, I don't think its rates enough to be mounted out in the open. I mounted the WOLO horn in frt of the rear inner shield. the horn housing has a 1/2" slotted mounting boss which a 5/16th" nut will fit perfectly into. I removed the right side oil tank mounting bolt, and the speed nut clip from the bike frame and then installed a slightly longer bolt with the nut just started a few threads. set the horn housing groove/notch over the bolt capturing the nut and tighten the bolt up. it is a tight fit, but it will go in with a little finagling.

oh, 07 FB and I did not remove the rear tire to do it. I also used the factory horn wire, which also reminds me, before hanging the horn I installed the wire leads to the horn connections because the terminals face forward and theres no way you could hook them up with the horn installed.

Its been on for about 3 years with no problems and its plenty loud enough for douche bags not paying attention.
