Not sure if anyone's been following my thread on plasma cutting. But I have created a backrest for the breakout that works straight up with the stock seat and mounting bolts. It can also be left on for 2-up riding with a stock or sundowner pillion, though usually those both provide enough support. I would be willing to sell base brackets that are unfinished (no paint or upholstering) at $60 plus whatever it is to ship it. I will have them pre-drilled and curved around the base to make sure it fits. Some upholstery quotes I've seen are in the 60 dollar range depending on location. This is not a high back rest but more of a lower stop to keep you from sliding back when its solo. I can adjust sizes to meet preferences, but it might require an additional fee due to material cost. It is made out of steel that can be bent to an angle that suits you with some simple clamps. I could pre-bend it before shipping as well. Feel free to PM me if anyone's interested.

I'm actually in the process of making some right now. The design has evolved. As soon as this batch is powder coated,. I'll get some posted.
Technically I made it for a breakout because that's what I have to base the design and it's to solve a problem unique to breakouts. The two bolt mount of the stock seat makes it sturdier than seats with a single bolt as well.
matte, your design is exactly what I've been looking for. I am interested in the finished product for my 2016 Breakout. Please let me know detail.
I'll post a finished product to classifieds and price once the foam comes in and I figure out the sewing machine. anticipating a price of 150 finished.
FYI: there are 2 bolts on my 2011 Fat Boy Lo, which holds down the rider seat, and also used to secure the passenger pad. I asked because if it fits multiple bikes it will broaden its appeal.

The rear fender on the breakout has a different curvature because of the 240 rear tire. Might make a difference in the fit.
Maybe, but the Grasshopper bracket is far from sitting flush as it has 2 angled bends off center and it still works. I think it would work as long as the distance between the holes are the same.
