Did you see the accident at Myrtle on Friday night with the minivan and the bagger where they had to call in a helicopter? It was bad. Stuff was all over the place. I just read an article that said the guy on the bike wound up dying and the lady on the back (I'm guessing his wife) is recovering in the hospital. He was the first fatality. It's sad. They went down there for a good time and on the first day of Bike Week a minivan not paying attention pulls out in front of them. My dad and I almost became a statistic earlier that afternoon. We were stopped at a stop light in the left lane with about 8 cars in front of us and cars next to us in the right lane. There was one bike behind us. I heard screeching tires behind us and turn around to see a white car with all tires locked up sliding off the road, through the median, and into the on-coming traffic. He wound up stopping about 10 yards in front of us. He missed the guy behind us by about a car link and missed us by about 2 car links. Then the guy had the nerve to put his car in reverse and back up to us and asked if we would let him get in front of us when the light turned green. We kinda did one of those things like, "Huh? What? The bike's too loud. I can't hear you." Then rode away. I was a little shaken up for a while after that. That has to be the most scared I've been on my motorcycle. Too close.
L2R - not sure if I saw that one but I will tell you that I saw three seperate incidents with bikes laying in the road and bikers somewhere in the road behind them - for example on the way to Broadway Sat night around 830ish a bike/biker down at what appeared to be the bottom of an on ramp - no reason to be down except for possibly a car coming off the ramp jamming him up. Then another was later that evening on 17 looks like it happened during the rain and looking at the end result, looks like the biker may not have given adequate consideration to road conditions - quite possibly the bikers fault - he was laying there on his back in the street covered with a blanket and his leg pointing the wrong direction - guess both sides of the cager/biker coin need to exercise more caution. For those stilll at Myrtle, please be on the look out, monitor your drink/ride and arrive back home alive.
I have a problem. the sole of my boots is wearing thin from leaving my feet down while i ride. are there boots i can buy that resist wear from the abrasive road?
JUST KIDDIN! some of the post on here crack me up!
I have been to MBBW for the last seven years & was unable to make it down this year. Did anyone get any pics of nice Deuces down there this year? Maybe next year!?
Live2Ride, glad you were safe. I think we have all had close calls & when my nerves get rattled like that I pull over & collect my thoughts.

Thanks. I did wind up having to pull over to gather my thoughts. I pulled into the Hooters parking lot and had some hot wings and a cold beer. That got me back in order!
Most of the Deuces I saw there were mostly stock. Obviously still nice because they were Deuces, but not a lot of customization. I did see a couple that people put some money into, but in my opinion, the paintjobs weren't that great. Again, though, that's just my opinion and I'm sure their owners love them and I can appreciate that. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that don't like my paintjob either. But I think she's damn sexy!
