DD - So sorry too hear of your misfortune, do what you have to do to heal first but get back in the saddle when you can - don't rush it though, we want your return to the bike permanent!!
DD,
Sorry to hear the bad news. I really hope you heal quickly. Just make sure you're completely healed before you climb back on the bike. You don't want to rush it and wind up not being to ride ever again. Better to miss one riding season than to miss the rest of them forever. As for the air ride, I haven't ridden a bike with one so I can't really answer the question. However, I've talked to people and have heard both that it's a really comfortable ride and I've also heard that it's a pretty stiff one. So I guess it all depends on how your bike feels. But most important is to not rush getting back on the bike. Again, I hope you heal fast and everything goes well. Let us know as soon as you can how everything went.
Well, guys. After a lot of back and forth of "I'm gettin' rid of the Deuce/I'm not gettin' rid of the Deuce," I got rid of the Deuce. It hurts and I'm saddened, but I traded it for a '08 Softail Custom. Now I got a new clean slate to work with so the fun of customizing can begin again. Thank you guys for all your help and advice. I can only hope the guys in the Softail Custom area are as close knit and as good of guys as the people in here. I'll still be poppin' in here from time to time, though.
I'm sorry to hear we have lost yetanother member of the Deuce clan. [sm=smiley13.gif]
It seems that this is starting to become an epidemic. Good luck with the Custom L2R.
hey guys, wanted to check in ....right now,i'm in a hospital bed after crushing my last 3 discs in my lower back (which they are fusing monday)and pinching my sciatic nerve so bad i've lost the use of part of my right leg......what a a way to go huh........now i'm no sissy by any means, but after a month of the most horrible pain you can imagine, i finally agreed to the surgery....monday i get a new lower back i guess......what are the odds of gettin back on my deuce with a air ride???? any ideas???
[sm=yikesomg.gif]yikes, sorry to hear about your injury deuce dude. Good luck on Monday, hope everything goes as planned. I hope you are able to ride again once you have healed up a while.
If anyone is interested, I havea HD Quick-Release Detachable Compact Windshield in lightly smoked that I'm willing to sell. I rode with it on the bike once. I originally bought it to make the ride to Myrtle Beach for Bike Week, but wound up trailering the bike instead due to possible weather. It's not the regular detachable windshield that leaves the hardware behind. This is the one with the four clamps that clamp onto the forks and can be removed in just a couple seconds without any hardware left behind. So it did about 100 miles on the Deuce, and I just saw that it doesn't fit the Custom. If someone would like to buy it, let me know. The HD part number is 57160-05 and it sells for $434.95. I know I'm gonna take a hit on it since it was used, but it was only used once so I'm hoping to not take a huge hit on it.
No. Sorry. I had to give it up with the bike. I would have taken quite a bit off the bike if I could have, but the salesman told me he wanted me to leave it as it was. I had to convince him to let me take the aircleaner off so I could at least have one part to put on the Custom. He even wanted my stock seat.
It's been a while since I've been in this forum/thread. Damn nice looking Deuces out there. I'm glad there is still a good Deuce following. In my sig is a link to my latest 07 Deuce pic. I can't figure out how to attach one. I keep getting an error. There's a few things that I'm about to add. I've got a Road Winder front wheel that I'm putting on soon with a 90/90 Dunlop E3. The wheel has been sitting in the garage for months. For the rear, I'm going to chrome the stock wheel and throw a SE Dunlop 180 on there for now. Maybe I'll go all out (200 w/new fender) on the rear later. I dunno, the 180 may be good enough. I also just scored a new SE fork brace on eBay that I'll be adding soon along with a Ness Velocity Stack that's been sitting in the garage for months. Been debating on getting a HD billet shift and brake lever with some HD CC points that I have to burn and also a gradient black Memphis Shades windshield mostly for love bug season here in Florida. I guess the next big things left to do are to build it out to at least a 110"(+), possibly widen the rear and go all Race Tech front/rear on my suspension.
Anyways, keep up the great pics and posts. Deuce Dude, I hope you get better soon and get back on the bike. Good luck with everything.
