Big fan, your bike is awesome!! Of course I maybe a little bias.
Of course Skull Head you got a FX, personally I think a Cross Bones should keep the wide tire up front, or why don't ya just get a FX Springer?
On the matter of Powder Coating the Exhaust Heat Shields, my PC guy says there is an initial prep and latest PC powder that can withstand the heat, just not in a gloss finish. I hope so cause I just did my 2011's shields.
Planning on putting a set of Nash apes on my Bones. Just looking for a little insight. I cant make up my mind on either the Gimps, Midget Gimps, or Grit ape hangers. Also. Looking for info on cable and wire set ups. I was looking into using Burly Brand cable kit. I used them on my Sporty when I put a set of Road 6 16" apes on her.
Dr V-Twin sells a kit for the installation of these bars, they are a HD Forum sponsor and the cables are American made from a company in New York. I ordered a set when I did my FX. You order the sets on a + basis for the year and model, so it would be Cross Bones +4" if you are going to a 16" bar (12" stock plus the difference is what you order)
The tins were painted that way. It is 4 base coats with 3 clear coats, sanded down in certain areas to give the worn or distressed look. Here are a few more pics. Thanks for the comment. Attachment 193727
