Got the new cables, 16" apes and a Thundermax installed earlier this week by a local custom shop. I also relocated the front turn signals to the fork. I think it turned out great and the T-Max makes it run like an entirely different bike...bad ***.

Wow!

So may incarnations, so many ideas & themes. Not for a long time has H-D brought out such a versatile platform.

Looking forward to plenty of chillin' this summer on those springs..

Long Live the 'Bones!!

Smile Break in the Weather

Well I finally got it back together, just in time to miss the weekend. Not a big deal Saturday was really the only good day for riding and I wasn't even close by mid afternoon. Weather broke a little today after work so I manage to take it out just to make sure the wheels still spin..

I did all the work myself, and it was well worth it. I like doing it and wish I had 2 bikes, one to work on and the other to ride.

New Bars (Flanders BadBoy's Internally Wired)
New Grips (HD Nostalgic)
New RockerBox Covers (HD Wrinkle Black)
New Trany Cover (HD Wrinkle Black)
New Throttle/Idle Cable (Magnum)
New Clutch Cable (Magnum)
New Front Break Line (HD)
New Front Turn Signal Relocation Kit (Drag Secialties - to the forks)

Previously:
New Seat (Corbin Holywood Solo)
New Outer Pimary Cover (HD Wrinkle Black)
New Derby Cover (HD Wrinkle Black with Etchings by PIG )
New Forward Controls (HD)

I had this bike in so many pieces I was relieved that it started, then that the signals worked... and for the sides I wanted them to.. along with the other hand controls. Front Breaks and clutch all worked well, throttle/idle cables all checked out as well. I don't know what I expected, but for my first crack at a really takeing the bike apart I am very happy with how it came back together. I only wish for all the effort I put into it, the end result was more dramatic. Seams like the bulk of work was due to the cable swap and they really didn't add that much to the bike.

When the weather clears near the end of the week I hope to take some more pictures. But I am sure to want to ride more than snap pics. I really love my new bars!

Thanks, the weather is supposed to get nice on Thursday so I should be able to get some more pics then. BTW the bars aren't quite drag bars but they are close. The Flanders 'Badboy' bars are more like Dirt Bike bar, they have a 3 1/2 inch rise, but follow the lines of the WildOne DragBar with a little more width. I will get some 3/4 shots to show what they look like. This improved the reach issue I was having with the standard drag bars and the 4" risers I was set on. The little bit I was able to get out, I really noticed a difference in handling in slow corners and IMO the riding position with the seat/bar/peg combo is just about perfect. I'll get a couple of hundred miles on it this weekend for a real test!

Your bike looks sick! I only have one suggestion. In my opinion, you should move your bars forward just a bit, so they are inline with the forks. They are swept back a bit, and I think it'll be a big difference if you move em forward a tad. Looks amazing!

Looks very nice, Zach. It's a credit to you & your abilities! I bet it really handles nicely with the forward controls on & not the scrapey, scrapey footboards..

Really like you Derby Cover - tell me more!

Something you can't buy with your bike is the feeling that comes from working on it with your own hands. Usually takes longer, but feels soooooo much better.

Great!

Thanks, the Derby Cover is 'semi' custom. I found some images I liked and messed with them a bit on the computer before sending them out to have the etching done. I liked how it turned out although I would have like the lettering a little bigger. It says '2008' across the top and 'XBONES' across the bottom. The font looks like bones. That part turned out really cool so that is why I wish it were larger.

I still scrape with the pegs but it doesn't feel like I'm doing something wrong when I do it with the pegs Looking forward to the next couple of modifications... I need more tools!
